What do you do at Kathryn Wilson?
We’re tight-knit little team at Kathryn Wilson which means we all work across many facets of the business however my main areas are designing the collections with Kathryn and I look after all of our lovely wholesale customers.
How long have you been with KW?
I was Kathryn’s first full time employee, I came on board in 2011.
What is a typical day like for you at KW?
Every day is different for me depending on where we are in the season…I could be travelling around the country meeting with buyers, visiting our production houses or sourcing materials abroad, putting together a photoshoot or working an event with the team here in Auckland. At the moment I am placing orders for our S’19 delivery and preparing sketches and specs for next winter’s collections.
What’s your favourite thing about working at KW?
My favourite part of working at KW is taking an idea and a simple pencil sketch and seeing that come to life. We will source the materials and components ourselves and work together with some really clever technicians who help to produce our samples for us.
What are the values that drive you?
Compassion, dedication and respect.
What is your favourite style this season and how do you wear it?
My favourite style this season would be the Broadmore and Lulu boots (I’ve got 3 pairs and counting). They’re a beautiful soft suede slouch boot that looks great with a pair of narrow trousers tucked into them, with a cute mini-skirt or a midi-length dress that skims the top of the boot.
What does having happy feet mean to you?
Having happy feet means that you can look down, smile and feel a million dollars.
What do you love doing when you’re not working, hobbies?
I love to sketch and make things and on the weekend I’ll be doing that, or working on a photoshoot just for fun.
Top 3 Cafes/eateries recommendations?
I live in Mt Eden which is famous for it’s Asian eateries, my top local picks would be Kung Fu Noodle, Yi Ma Yi La or Wu and You…
If you could only take 3 things with you to a deserted island….
My Frenchie Syd, my boyfriend Matt and a book about which plants to eat on a desert island because I’m pretty indoor-sy!
