Lockdown at home with the Kathryn Wilson family...

From us to you, we chat to our retail team to learn about how their lockdown is being filled whilst they share their top tips on wellness and some favourite recipes for you to try...

What brings you happiness during lockdown?

We have been doing themed dinners on the weekends. Nothing fancy or stressful. This Saturday was a Mexican fiesta. Think lots of margaritas…

- Briar

Sitting in the sun with a good book and a yummy drink and good tunes. Matcha lattes and G&Ts are the current favourites depending on the mood! Dreaming of the beautiful new store and all the amazing shoes is a light at the end of the tunnel!

- Taylor

I am super lucky to be at home to spend lockdown with my
family and 1 year old pup. He keeps us all entertained and as he is nearly the size of a donkey, he requires at least 2 walks a day, so the outdoors are keeping us all happy! Definitely helps that we live by the beach too...

 Any wellness tips to share?

For me, I always get a bit worried on whether I’m being productive or not, so I try and take each day slowly by listening to my head and body. This helps me to see what I truly want and need to be doing physically and mentally. Also being a uni student, my class schedule helps me to see some structure

- Sabrina

Trying to keep a good sleeping routine as you would while not in lockdown. Sleep and wake up at a reasonable time. Set tiny habits for yourself to win the day! Write things down then physically cross them off once you do it; very satisfying. And dont forget to limit social media time!!

- Jasmeeta

Wellness tips would be to get some fresh air and try not to stay cooped up inside every day… baking some sweet treats could also help raise the spirits if needed, like these afghan cookies!

- Lucie

We have to ask... What's your favourite new season shoe?

I might be biased but the Briar sandals! I haven’t been able to get my hands in them yet but they’re first on my list for level 3!

- Briar

The Vera Loafers, particularly in the pastel python colour! I think it is super unique and fun to style.

- Julie

Definitely the Portia Heel! They are absolutely gorgeous and such a timeless style to staple your look!

- Jess

Are you reading any good books? Listening to podcasts or watching any good series?

I am currently reading The Institute by Stephen King, if you are into thrillers with a lot of mystery, this is the book for you!  We are also currently binge watching Chicago Med (Amazon Prime) and Dawsons Creek (Netflix) Nine Perfect Strangers is also a good watch, also on Amazon Prime.
- Alice
I’ve been listening to some of the sleep stories on the calm app, when I start to feel a bit unsettled. My favourite one is “wonder”- narrated by Matthew McConaughey
- Sabrina

Currently reading Crazy Rich Asians, which is resulting in a lot of online window shopping and dreaming of beautiful things.

 Any favourite recipes?

Lockdown brings the baker out in all of us. My favourite thing to make is chocolate lava cake, it's super easy and will definitely impress. Also chocolate is comforting and that's all I need right now in lockdown. The recipe I have been using is the Chelsea sugar recipe which you can find here

- Meritxell

So far, I haven’t been doing any baking! Which I guess is kind of good! But my favourite meal, I’ve had so far in lockdown is your classic Korean BBQ w a side of beer or any beverage you enjoy x

- Jess

Thanks to tiktok, I've been attempting food hacks/recipes such as stuffed mushrooms - they are to die for! Mix cream cheese with crushed garlic, chopped spinach and mushroom, cheese, parsley, salt and pepper then stuff inside the hollow of the mushrooms. Bake for about 15 mins and voila! Super easy to make.

- Julie

How are you balancing your days at home?

Hmmmm, probably just remembering to have rest / down time. There is no need to be productive all day everyday.
- Jasmeeta
It's easy to fall into bad habits during lockdown or to lose motivation, what has helped me stay on track and get out of bed in the morning is sticking to a fun routine. I say fun because I have added things I enjoy in between the things that I have to do. The past 2 weeks I have been using an app called Insight Timer, it's a free app with meditation and yoga. It has really motivated me and it makes my mornings more exciting to start my day right, it's also great before bed if you find it hard to fall asleep.

Cook, Bake, paint, eat, walk, read, sew, repeat! I’ve been keeping creative by painting with flatmates, and designing and making for my own clothing label.
